Home Entertainment Review: Black Panther

Marvel Studios and Disney bring home Black Panther for viewers to enjoy over and over again wherever they want. The movie was a huge hit in theaters and now those who waited to see it outside of theaters are in luck. Of course, seeing it on a smaller screen isn't quite the same experience as seeing it on the silver screen.

After the death of his father, T'Challa returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king -- and as Black Panther -- gets tested when he's drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people.

The story at the heart of the film is made up of family drama which equals that of the most tragic Shakespeare play. Mix that with a heaping helping of super hero action and comic book fantasy and you have an exciting viewing experience. One that stands on its own outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and within its confines.

Aside from some shaky CGI, we get some likable performances by everyone involved making Black Panther a definite winner critically and with audiences. The movie deserves all the attention it is getting and should be congratulated for how it's performing at the box office. Here's a film that will surely go down as one of the most important super hero movies in cinema history.

Black Panther is rated PG-13 for prolonged sequences of action violence, and a brief rude gesture. Black Panther's sister gives him the finger.

Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, with Angela Bassett, with Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nate Moore, Jeffrey Chernov and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Ryan Coogler & Joe Robert Cole wrote the screenplay.
