Did You Know That Big Hero 6 Was Originally Tied to the X-Men?

With the success of Big Hero 6 as a film in 2014 and now as a series on Disney Channel, I find it strange that Marvel Comics hasn't published their first adventures with X-Men member Sunfire in a graphic novel collection to cash in on their popularity. Sure, the original team doesn't really resemble that of the Disney one, but the name recognition alone would at least get people of all ages to take a look at where it all started.

Yes, Baymaxx was a shape-shifting dragon that wasn't as cute as he is now. The characters all looked a bit more menacing than their Disney counteparts. But they worked with a member of the X-Men! That alone would get people interested and possibly open up the Big Hero 6 franchise to a whole new audience.

If you're interested, as I was, in digging deeper into the history of Big Hero 6 and their original ties to the Marvel Comics universe there are a couple references for you to check out. There's a Wikipedia page you can check out that breaks down the characters and storyline. You could also go straight to the source and just pick up the comics on Amazon, though they can be a bit pricey.
