Alamo Drafthouse to Thrill Audiences With Epic THE MEG Preview Screening... on the Water
Alamo Drafthouse's Rolling Roadshow is teaming up with Warner Bros. Pictures for an exclusive early screening of the science fiction action thriller THE MEG, pitting man against a prehistoric 75-foot megalodon. The film stars Jason Statham and Li Bingbing and was directed by Jon Turteltaub.
Screening on the shores of Lake Travis at Volente Beach Resort, THE MEG on the Water attendees will float on inflatable rafts while being the first to see THE MEG's giant shark action unspool.
Tickets to THE MEG on the Water will also provide guests with some bonus fun at Volente Beach Resort from 6:00PM - 8:30PM, with all rides and hang-out spots open, including the Lazy Lagoon, The Sidewinder, volleyball, and a beachside bar and grill.
THE MEG on the Water event is produced by Alamo Drafthouse's Rolling Roadshow, known for on-location interactive screening events, including four consecutive summers of recreating Amity Island with JAWS on the Water. Recent events have included CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND at Devils Tower; ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND on a beach in Montauk; and ROBOCOP, which brought fans to the shooting location of OCP Headquarters for a screening and Q&A with Peter Weller.

Jason Statham (SPY, FURIOUS 7, THE EXPENDABLES) and award-winning Chinese actress Li Bingbing (FORBIDDEN KINGDOM) star in the action thriller THE MEG, directed by Jon Turteltaub (NATIONAL TREASURE).
In the film, a deep-sea submersible-part of an international undersea observation program-has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific...with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew-and the ocean itself-from this unstoppable threat: a prehistoric 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below...bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time.
The film was produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Belle Avery and Colin Wilson from a screenplay by Dean Georgaris and Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber, based on the best-selling novel MEG, by Steve Alten.
