DC Comics has launched a new digital-first comic companion to its newly released animated film The Death of Superman. Issues 1 and 2 are both available now however you get your books. I gave the first issue a read and found it to be an entertaining little tale.
What is it like to be Superman — when the events of a day can be completed in a matter of minutes? The Death of Superman: Part 1 - Chapter One - Power take us through the hours that lead to the Man of Steel’s showdown with Doomsday — the alien that is destined to destroy him. In Chapter 1, entitled "Power," he’ll rescue an astronaut when a meteor crashes into their shuttle and save Major Lane when his experiment-gone-wrong Metallo comes for revenge.
The first issue of The Death of Superman: Part 1 is a quick and well-paced adventure. It gets right to the point and the heart of the action. The artwork has a lot of heavy outlines and thick broad strokes which cause it to stand out from what we see in most books these days.
If you're looking for a quick and exciting leap into the world of the Man of Steel, The Death of Superman: Part 1 - Chapter One - Power will no doubt satisfy your cravings. It's more or less a stand-alone tale that wraps up nicely. However, a new story kicks off in the end to leave the reader wanting to come back for more.
The Death of Superman: Part 1 - Chapter 1 - Power was written by Louise Simonson. Artwork was provided by Cat Staggs. It's 23 pages long and rated T for Teen.
