Although it might have been 14 years for us, Incredibles 2 picks up right after the original 2004 film. I can genuinely tell you that not a beat is missed. Easily as good as the original, the entire voice cast slips right back into their characters. The animation holds the familiar look of the first film, while somehow improving upon it without any sort of jarring effects on the eyes. The action sequences in the movie are so smooth and energetic thst you can't help getting excited. Michael Giacchino's score adds a whole other level of class and energy by mirroring, yet not plagarizing, the soundtrack for James Bond's penultimate outing Goldfinger.
Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in Incredibles 2 – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transistion for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.
The Blu-ray edition of Incredibles 2 is filled with great bonus material. Disc One features the short films Bao and Aunt Edna. Audio commentary is provided by Writer/Director Brad Bird, Animation Supervisors Dave Mullins, Alan Barillaro, and Tony Fucile, and Animation Second Unit and Crowd Supervisor Bret Parker. We also get the featurette "Strong Coffee: A Lesson in Animation with Brad Bird."
Disc Two contains a five-part feature which includes "Super Stuff," "Paths to Pixar: Everyday Heroes," "Superbaby," "Ralph Eggleston: Production Designer," and "Making BAO." There are vintage features and a "Heroes and Villains" featurette as well. There are also deleted scenes and trailer and promos.
Incredibles 2 is rated PG for action sequences and some brief mild language. There are also a few scenes that might be too frightening for toddlers and younger children. A few mild curse words are used, which really is unnecessary in a movie like this.
Incredibles 2 is written and directed by Brad Bird. It stars Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, and Samuel L. Jackson. The running time is 1 hour and 58 minutes.
