KISS: Blood and Stardust #4 and #5 are both satisfying entries in this limited edition series from Dynamite Entertainment. I love how the comic book publisher treats every series the band stars in more or less as its own standalone tale. This gives each and every artist and writer the freedom to create their own environment and visual style they want to go with.
In KISS: Blood and Stardust #4, Moonson didn't bargain for the mighty power of Kiss to stop his evil plan and now he must make a dark bargain with The Illuminati to save himself from the rock 'n' roll warriors. Meanwhile, Kiss and Lilith help Alicia realize her destiny in an attempt to save the world!
KISS turns the tables on evil and try to protect innocent lives, all while rockin' & rollin' harder and louder than you could ever dream of in the concluding issue, KISS: Blood and Stardust #5.
My two favorite parts of KISS: Blood and Stardust #4 and #5 are Gene Simmons's character portrayal and the KISS "superhero combo," which combines the powers and looks of each individual member of the group into one indestructible being. Where Gene's Demon persona rarely talks or communicates directly with anyone in most of the other comics, in this series he is the leader of the team and quite vocal.
KISS: Blood and Stardust #4 and #5 are heavily rooted in the occult and supernatural, which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's been keeping up with the series. My only real complaint I have is some of the scantily clad women shown in the books. Other than that, Bryan Hill's story and Rodney Buchemi's artwork for this entire series has been a real treat to keep up with. I actually found myself wanting more when I came to the last page of the final issue.
